Omnipresent

Over a three-week period, we are looking at omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent
and how each of these words apply to God. Last week we looked at omniscient. This week we
will be looking at omnipresent. We will also talk about ideas to help us explain these difficult
concepts to our kids.
Omnipresent: God’s presence is everywhere. There’s nowhere we can go to hide from
Him, because everywhere we go, He is already there! This message is from the Lord. “I am God,
and I am always near. I am not far away. Someone might try to hide from Me in some hiding
place. But it is easy for Me to see that person, says the Lord, because I am everywhere in heaven
and earth” (Jeremiah 23:23-24). We cannot hide from God, because He fills heaven and earth.
We can encourage our kids to play a classic game of hide-and- go-seek. Once they are worn out
from all the running around, over snacks we can start a conversation about how God was in each
and every place they hid. Next, ask what their best hiding spot was, and say that even there, God
was with them.
“The Lord’s eyes see everything that happens. He watches both evil and good people”
(Proverbs 15:3). God sees everything! Gather some paper and art supplies, and get creative
drawing a pair of eyes. While creating, we can talk about God’s eyes and that they see
everything that happens. There’s nothing hidden from His sight, because His presence is
everywhere!
“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the
heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the
dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand
will hold me fast” (Psalm 139:7-10). ~B Tolbert
