The Word Of God

We need to be careful that we do not avoid certain Bible verses simply because some
have chosen to twist their meaning and use them to lead others astray. Even Satan used Scripture
when tempting Jesus. Instead, we should study them and find the instruction and comfort that
can be found in the word of God. These verses can encourage us to remain faithful and fight the
good fight when we feel overwhelmed. The gift of grace is something that is given to us, it’s not
something we can earn or deserve. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and
this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast”
(Ephesians 2:8-9).
We have assurances that God’s love cannot be taken away from us. “For I am convinced
that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any
powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us
from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our LORD” (Romans 8:38-39).
Jesus himself said that as Christians we are secure in the hand of God. “My Father, who
has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of My Father's hand”
(John 10:29).
These verses, when taken in context, teach us about the love that God has for us as His
children. When those verses are balanced with the following verses, we see a clearer picture of
our secure salvation. “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!” (1
Cor. 10:12). “For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge
of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled and overcome, the last state has
become worse with them than the first” (2 Peter 2:20). We can see His gift, and our
responsibility to remain faithful to God and the teaching of Jesus. “But we do not belong to those
who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved” (Heb. 10:39).
Jesus’ amazing sacrifice and the salvation that is offered is for all who will believe (John 3:16).
