VIEW FROM THE OFFICE

Wednesday, April 1 was the third Wednesday evening of Bible classes missed since
“shutting down” due to the coronavirus outbreak. No, this is not a rant on missing Bible class
and worship because we understand the need to shelter in place until this virus runs its course. As
the title suggests, I want to share in a few words my view from the office as I look each day into
an empty auditorium.
Cathy and I continue to spend morning hours each day in a very quiet building. We know
that some office work continues, even though we don’t get to see and hear from many of you. I
am reminded of summer break as a school teacher when I would spend a few hours each week
getting band music, instruments and uniforms ready for the new school year. Work was good,
but wasn’t complete without the students. Our time spent in the church office is good, but it is
not complete without our regular meeting times together. We miss seeing each and everyone of
you. You all are in our prayers as we go from day to day and we look forward to the day we all
get to be back together as one.
In the meantime, I want you to know that we are still available to you if you need to visit (by
phone), need answers to Bible questions, and even counseling, if needed. Yes, we are practicing
“safe distancing” and we are not shaking hands or hugging (as difficult as that is at times!). But
we are still here for you.
Bulletins are available in the lobby of the building, if you are not receiving the bulletin by
email. Communion supplies are also available. Call ahead and we can have it ready for you at
your convenience. Jeff Newton is hard at work recording Wednesday evening devotionals (airing
at 6:30) and Sunday morning worship (airing at 10:30), making them available on Facebook and
YouTube. I hope you are taking advantage of this opportunity to continue to worship “together”
in the shelter of your own living room. Of course, you can view these recordings anytime after
they first air.
Keep reading your Bible daily and spend much time in prayer. This will all pass at sometime
and we will be together again, Lord willing. God bless each of us as we continue living for Him
and shining as bright lights in spite of the darkness surrounding us. ~ Paul Mowrer
