SPIRITUAL WARFARE
I read a Facebook posting a couple of weeks ago outlining a plan for all American
citizens to implement for protection against those who would destroy our way of life. I couldn’t
help but notice similarities as for our need as Christians to protect against the ways of Satan in
his pursuit to devour the unsuspecting (1 Peter 5:8). Consider the following:
1) Get a gun legally and learn to shoot it. We are instructed to “be diligent to present your
self approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling
accurately the word of truth (2 Tim. 2:15). It has been stated that only 2% of Christians
have ever read the Bible in its entirety. Have you? And are you prepared to use it to
defend against attacks from Satan?
2) “Weaponize” the local police department. Ministers of the gospel of Christ spend much
time in preparation from week to week to share truths of God’s Word which will help us
defend against the schemes of the devil (2 Cor. 2:11; Eph. 4:11-14), but too often we
preach to empty pews. Discouragement can set in. Pray for us and encourage us as we pre
pare to preach and teach each week and then be present to hear God’s Word proclaimed.
3) Close the borders. We have become a people enamored with the things of this world! We
need to shut the doors on materialism, just another tool of Satan in his attack on the
church. Sadly, we are blinding ourselves to our relationship with the world. We are
warned to remain aloof to the world. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed…” (Rom. 12:2). “Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that
are on earth” (Col. 3:2). “No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of
everyday life,…” (2 Tim. 2:4). “Flee youthful lusts,…” (2 Tim. 2:22).
4) Arm yourself with knowledge. No great need to expound on this one. We once were a
people recognized for our knowledge of God’s Word. We need to become that people
again! We need to “put on the full armor of God,...to stand firm against the schemes of
the devil” (Eph. 6:11). We need to add to our faith “...knowledge” (2 Pet. 1:5-11), so as
not to be “blind or short-sighted” regarding our lives with the Lord.
We are in a battle for our soul salvation. Are you prepared!?
