OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE AND GROWTH
The church of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is to be a growing and thriving body. We
meet each week to help encourage this growth in our lives, but if opportunity is not provided,
then we find ourselves in the same old familiar rut of “status quo”. That is certainly not the case
for the congregation here for the next couple of months. Following is a list of opportunities for
each of us to participate in so we can take a step in growing in the Lord this year!
We host the Area Wide Worship, next Sunday afternoon at 3:00. This will be a
wonderful opportunity for us to join in worship and praise to God as we fellowship with
Christians around southeast Arkansas. If you haven’t done so already, take a moment to
volunteer to help with refreshments. Plan to be a little early to introduce yourself to a brother or
sister visiting from the other congregations. The Area Wide Worship has always been a special
day for all who assemble together.
Beginning in February, our children will have the opportunity to begin the habit of
bringing their Bibles each week with the program “Bible Bringers”. All children ages 2 through
10 are encouraged to bring their Bibles to worship. When they bring their Bibles they will
receive a sticker to be seen by all. During our Children’s Bible Hour, our children will be taught
the importance of bringing, opening, and reading their Bibles during worship. As adults, we will
have the opportunity to be examples for our children by participating in our own personal
reading from week to week.
The College Ave. church of Christ in El Dorado is hosting a Stronger Marriage
Workshop, Friday, January 29 through Saturday, Jan. 30. This is a free workshop with childcare
provided. Presenters are Trey and Lea Morgan from Childress, TX.
Friends & Family Day is scheduled for Sunday, March 6. Now is the time to begin
asking your friends and family to join us as we worship the Lord together.
The most recent issue of House to House, Heart to Heart is available for each of us to
take a few and share with our friends, family, and co-workers. Such an easy way to help
proclaim the “good news” of Jesus Christ.
Will you take advantage of the opportunities available to grow in the Lord, or will you be
satisfied with “status quo”? “...we are to grow up in all aspects into Him,…” (Eph. 4:15).
