Am I really worth anything?
A recent article reported that the base materials we are made of would be worth about
$160 if they were all broken down. If you were able to sell off all your parts and pieces such as
organs and bone marrow DNA as components, a body could be worth $45 million dollars.
That being said, most of us don’t think of ourselves as spare parts. We do probably ask
ourselves from time to time if we are really worth anything. Have you ever wondered if you were
worth anything? Or may- be you had one of those really bad days and felt like no one really likes
you or could ever really care about you? That’s the devil whispering in your ear.
Jesus Himself tells us a parable to describe just how important we are to God. “Or
suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house
and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors
together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, I tell you, there
is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:8-10).
We are precious, we are sought after, we are worth rejoicing over.
No matter what is going on in your life right now there is always someone that cares for
you. God cares so much that He was willing to send His own Son to suffer and die for you. God
knows you, He knows your situation. “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do
not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows” (Luke 12: 7). You are loved by the
Creator of the universe. He cares for you and you are important to Him. He wants you to spend
eternity in heaven with Him. You can’t get more important or more cared for than that. ~B
