Monticello Hosting Gospel Meeting
MONTICELLO HOSTING GOSPEL MEETING
We will be hosting a gospel meeting beginning Sunday morning, Oct. 16 and will run
through Tuesday evening, Oct. 18. Paul O’Rear, from the Brown Street church of Christ in
Waxahachie, TX, will be our speaker. Paul will be speaking on “Building Strong Families”. We
see the struggles in our world today, and so much of it is linked to the deterioration of our
families. The lessons for the week are as follows:
“What is a Strong Family” Sunday AM Bible Class
“Train Up a Child” Sunday AM Worship
“A Solid Foundation” Sunday PM Worship
“A Strong Commitment” Monday Evening (7:00)
“The Parenting Tightrope” Tuesday Evening (7:00)
As we begin preparation for this meeting, consider the following on how you can help
personally in making the meeting a success.
1) Pray fervently. Pray for Paul as he makes preparation to be here and that he may share from
God’s Word those things that will draw us closer to the Lord. Pray that his words find fertile soil
in the hearts of those who need to respond to the Lord’s invitation.
2) Plan to be in attendance each night. I know that there are activities which will come up that
we feel we “must” be at, but is there really anything more important for us as Christians than
hearing the gospel message proclaimed? We need to be present each evening to be an
encouragement for Paul as he preaches the gospel. We need to be present each evening so that
our visitors may see that we take seriously the call to “deny ourselves” and that we truly “hunger
and thirst after righteousness”. If we don’t take seriously the need to hear God’s Word, why
should others?
3) Invite someone to come with you. We will be advertising to all area congregations. We will
also advertise on MonticelloLive and in the Advance, but the greatest success will be from each
of us taking a few moments to invite a friend, neighbor, family member or fellow worker. Ask
often and remind them of the opportunity to hear the gospel of Christ.
It is often heard in prayer, “Lord, send out workers into His harvest.” May we be the
answer to that prayer by becoming the workers the Lord needs in His field (Monticello).
