Power in Prayer
One Sunday, in a Midwest city, a young child was "acting up" during the morning
worship hour. The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were
losing the battle. Finally the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly down the aisle
on his way out. Just before reaching the safety of the foyer the little one called loudly to the
congrega- tion, "Pray for me! Pray for me!"
The ministry on the UAM campus needs your prayers. There are sever- al ways members
could help by praying for the mission work of the church. They include things like:
Pray for Open Doors - Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for
us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of
Christ, for which I am in chains (Colossians 4:2– 3) (NIV).
Pray that God’s Word Will Spread - As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that
the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you (2
Thessalonians 3:1) (NIV).
Pray for Protection - And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not
everyone has faith (2 Thessalonians 3:2 ) (NIV).
Partners in prayer - I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of
the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me (Romans 15:30) (NIV).
Students are facing pressure, stress, frustration, and temptation. They are facing ridicule
for their faith. The students, ministers, and elders need your prayers. Please pray daily for the
work on the UAM campus and in the Monticello community. Only through God’s power will we
accomplish His will. ~B Tolbert
