Sin

Sin is a topic many in this world would like to ignore. The philosophers would like you to
believe that there is no right or wrong, that these are only made up subjective ideas. The Bible is
clear that sin is real and that it has real consequences. From the beginning, man’s actions have
led to consequences. Adam and Eve in the garden disobeyed God and were separated from God
and placed outside of the garden. They were cursed. Even the earth itself was cursed due to their
actions (Genesis 3).
The Bible is clear that sin separates and continues to separate man from God. “But your
iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His
face from you so that He does not hear” (Isaiah 59:2). When looking at the kingdom of Heaven,
the Bible teaches that we must be cleansed of our sin to enter. “But nothing unclean will ever
enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the
Lamb's book of life” (Revelation 21:27). Our sin has consequences and our sin means we
deserve death. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
There are no exclusions to sin. We are all sinners according to the Bible. “If we say we
have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8). “For all have sinned
and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
From Adam’s day forward, man’s sin has separated him from God. What man needs is a
cure, a way for that burden to be taken away. “But you know that He (Jesus) appeared so that He
might take away our sins. And in Him is no sin” (1 John 3:5). Peter tells us how our sins can be
forgiven. “Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). God
will forgive sin !! ~B Tolbert
