FIXER UPPER, WAIT ‘TIL YOU SEE WHAT GOD CAN DO
It is that time again when rooms begin to morph into Bible lands and Bible times. Our VBS
this year is taking on a little different look, but it does not change the opportunity for each of us
to serve in a wonderful capacity.
Teachers have been preparing lessons for the last month, decorations planned, skits
rehearsed, refreshments prepared all in anticipation of a full house of children excited to learn
about God. Yes, there will also be a class for the adults each evening. I hope you will make plans
to be a part of this week, whether you are in an active role or sitting in a class as a student,
listening to prepared Bible lessons which will help us live our lives more for the Lord each day.
Here are a few things you can do to insure the week of Vacation Bible School is successful:
1) Be sure to be praying for the classroom teachers and helpers as they lead the children through
the Bible each evening. I am thankful for each individual filling these roles this week and I know
that good things can come from caring adults who are planting the seeds of faith and love.
2) It is not too late to invite someone to join you for one of the evenings of Bible School. Help
our little ones get the word out. Don’t hesitate to ask some older folks if they would come and
here the Bible taught. Be ready to provide rides as needed. Sometimes all it takes getting
someone to come with you is asking to pick them up and bring them.
3) If you haven’t already volunteered to help in some capacity, be sure to ask where you can be
of service. Chris Bryant is directing VBS this week and will be glad to put you to work. Don’t be
“picky” where you are assigned, just be ready to serve joyfully wherever you may be assigned.
4) Plan to attend each night of VBS. This was mentioned earlier in the article, but I wanted to
emphasize again the importance of attending at every opportunity. Now that the parking lot is
more visible, it is very important to have it filled to show we believe what we teach! “Wait ’til
you see what God can do!” ~P. Mowrer
