20/20 VISION FOR THE NEW YEAR!
What exactly is 20/20 vision? According to the American Optometric Association, “20/20
vision is a term used to express normal visual acuity (the clarity or sharpness of vision) measured
at a distance of 20 feet. If you have 20/20 vision, you can see clearly at 20 feet what should
normally be seen at that distance.”
As wonderful as clear vision is, how much more is spiritual vision!
“The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see
the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ” (2 Cor. 4:4).
“We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the
things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Cor. 4:18).
So many things can cloud our vision—greed, hatred, prejudice, ignorance, fear, worries,
distraction, unbelief, false teaching, etc. We may never have good physical eyesight, but is there
any reason we cannot have 20/20 spiritual vision?

In his article, Bro. Gibson shares four passages, two from the Old Testament and two from
the New Testament, which will help us examine ourselves to see what kind of spiritual vision we
have as we enter into this new year. We will be sharing one passage each week.
Opportunities abound for each of us to grow in the Lord this year. I hope that you will take
advantage of some of these opportunities:
The Wednesday evening classes got off to a good start this past week. I am grateful to those
teachers who set a precedent for the weeks to come. Next Wednesday evening Joe Moore will be
speaking on the Lord’s Supper and Sara Newton will be using Lydia (Acts 16) to teach lessons
emphasizing godliness in our daily living.
Ladies’ Day at the Fountain Hill congregation is Jan. 18. Bennie Vincent will be the guest
speaker. Breakfast and registration begin at 8:00, the program begins at 10:00.
Second Sunday Singing and Birthday/Anniversary fellowship is Sunday, Jan. 12. This is a
great time to build relationships with each other and invite visitors to be with us. ~P. Mowrer
