What Does The Future Hold?
People in the world are worried about the future. Some people are worried about getting
sick while others are worried about the economy. It should not surprise us that people are asking
about what the future will hold. God tells us some very important things about our future that we
know will come about. If we are obedient children of God, we will see these as wonderful
promises that God has made to us.
Jesus promises He will return. The Second Coming: “My Father’s house has many
rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for
you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that
you also may be where I am” (John 14:2, 3).
Even if I die, I will be remade. The Bodily Resurrection: “Do not be amazed at this, for a
time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come out—those who
have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be
condemned” (John 5:28, 29).
I will see God face to face. The Last Judgement: “And inasmuch as it is appointed for
men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear
the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who
eagerly await Him” (Hebrews 9:27, 28).
These events are some of God’s promises to us. I cannot tell you when these events will
take place and no one else can either. “Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do
not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in
the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:1, 2). God holds the future. ~ Brad Tolbert
