REVIVE US AGAIN!
I think I can safely say for everyone, “It is so good to be back together for worship!” It is
good to see faces again, even though partially covered up with a mask! It is good to be together
in the auditorium, hearing a multitude of voices as we sing praise to God. And as we practice
safe-distancing, we can better imagine handshakes and hugs as we enter and exit the building.
Yes, it is very good to be back together and we hope in a short time we will be able to meet as
one body again during the same worship time.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the men who have provided devotional thoughts over
the past three months of “shut down”: Josh Pettigrew, Jeff Newton, Brad Tolbert and Jason
Meier. No easy task to stand before a camera and deliver a devotional thought. And you just
thought it was intimidating to stand before a crowd of 100 loving folks. I also want to thank Jeff
Newton for all the work he has done organizing speakers, recording, editing and posting sermons
and devotionals for Facebook and YouTube. I want to thank Josh Pettigrew for the extra work
involved in recording “It’s Bible Time.” The kids looked forward to seeing the recording each
week (adults, too!).
We didn’t like being away from each other, but we found ways to make it work and remain
in touch, at least to some extent. We witnessed the continued efforts of service and concern when
some suffered the loss of loved ones. We also enjoyed bringing joy to families celebrating new
births and birthdays. And even though all of us were not able to witness the birth of Monty Meier
into Christ, we all rejoiced with the angels as he was baptized.
We begin a “new” phase in the history of the church in Monticello. We don’t know what it
will look like going forward, being mindful of the impact the virus may have on the church
today. But as we move forward, may we always trust in our Heavenly Father, because He knows
and has promised to be with us as we strive to serve Him and glorify His name. ~P. Mowrer
Revive us again: fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled with fire from above.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, Hallelujah! Amen!
Hallelujah! Thine the glory; Revive us again.
