Weevils For Christ News!
Students are now back and events are taking place to help students get oriented and engaged
in the campus community. Classes on the UAM campus started this past Wednesday with
students wearing masks to class. Some classes are meeting partly online and partly in person.
Weevils For Christ was able to take part in UAM’s welcome back cookout and fireworks
show Tuesday night. We set up our tent in front of our building with an information table and
gave out Icees to over 120 students. Much effort was put into engaging each student and inviting
them to use our building, to become a part of our group, and to come to our outdoor devotional
August 27th. We will also participate in a campus wide outreach opportunity Tuesday the 25th,
when we will take part in an outdoor Recognized Student Organization Fair. WFC will continue
outreach on an individual basis with pop-up information tables, handouts, and events for our
engaged students. These events may look very different than what we are used to, but we are
doing our best to be flexible and adjust to the current circumstances while continuing to
positively influence students on the UAM campus. Please pray for the work, students, faculty,
and staff on the UAM campus as we face these unusual times.
Some have asked what they can do to help. We have waited on some items because of the
uncertainty of what the State would decide concerning the school year. Many of these items are
ongoing needs. Thank you for your generosity in supporting the WFC.
Needed items: Toilet paper, paper towels, canned sodas (no diet drinks), bottled water
(which is what the students use the most), donations for hand sanitizer (we are buying 1 gallon
refills) and donations for the purchase of advertisement materials for handouts to students.
