Be Humble
“Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the
calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing
tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of
peace” (Eph. 4:1-3).
“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort
from His love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make
my joy complete by being like- minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one
mind. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one
another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal
interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in
Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a
thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in
the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming
obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” (Philippians 2:1-8).
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one
another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And
over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of
Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be
thankful” (Colossians 3:12-15).
