I wanted to take just a minute to update you on some of the work that we are doing on the
UAM campus. Our Thursday night Bible studies started back this Fall Semester after a delay
from the first hurricane. We have transitioned inside on Thursday nights after the initial push to
have our Bible studies outside. The free meals on Thursday nights resumed beginning the second
week of September after an initial delay at the request of UAM. Due to concerns and the smaller
group size this year, I have been preparing Thursday night meals and that seems to be working
the best currently. This opportunity to serve may be opened to others during the Spring Semester.
Thank you to all those who have asked about meals already, your help is always appreciated.
We have been involved with events that UAM has hosted and our students are active in the
limited Intermural sport activities that UAM is having this year. We recently had Spirit Week in
which we were able to participate in activities, including painting a Spirit Wall that was placed
outside the WFC building. We were also able to host an invitation only ping pong tournament at
the WFC building.
I was recently invited to a meeting with the Chancellor and the UAM Executive board. I am
sad to report that the stress during these strange times is having a negative effect on UAM
students. UAM is seeing a drop in grades and attendance, with students not showing up in person
to classes. The meeting was focused on helping students better cope and what can be done to
improve student engagement and moral. I felt the meeting was positive for us. I hope we will see
a lifting of some of the restrictions that we have been trying to operate under this semester.
Please continue to pray for the Students and Staff of UAM. Pray that God will open doors for us
as we continue the work.
