2021 – HALFWAY COMPLETE!
I was reading a devotional book today and noticed the date. Yes, we are officially halfway
through another year! Ready or not! And before we blink too many times, we will be nearing the
end of 2021 and staring at 2022. Several thoughts come to mind as I think for just a little bit on
the halfway point of the year.
Swiftly we’re turning life’s daily pages, swiftly the hours are changing to years;
How are we using God’s golden moments? Shall we reap glory? Shall we reap tears?
Into our hands the gospel is given, into our hands is given the light.
Haste, let us carry God’s precious message, guiding the erring back to the right.
~Mrs. Roy Caruth
With time so quickly passing us by, we need to wake up and recognize the lost state of so
many of our family and friends. We may think that there is time yet to reach them and tell of
salvation in Jesus Christ, but on what do you base your thoughts? We wring our hands so often at
how quickly our children grow up and then leave home, but are we teaching them faithfulness to
the Lord? Better yet, are we showing them faithfulness? I’m not speaking of faithful attendance
on Sunday mornings, but a faithfulness to the Lord which consumes each and every day of our
lives. Are we teaching them to “...grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ”
(Eph. 4:14-16)? Are we able to “...present every man complete [perfect] in Christ” (Col. 1:28)?
Are we showing those around us that there is a different way to live for the Lord? Are we
teaching the need to “...pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift
away from it [God’s Word]” (Heb. 2:1)?
Yes, time is swiftly passing us by! What have you done to tell others about Christ?
One sweetly solemn tho’t comes to me o’er and o’er;
Today I’m nearer to my home than e’er I’ve been before.
Feel as if now my feet were slipping o’er the bank;
For I may now be nearer home, much nearer than I think. ~Phoebe Cary
