RAISING FAITHFUL CHILDREN
After serving for the past 16 years as youth minister, Jason Meier has decided to step down
from that role. He will continue to serve as deacon of youth and continue to be actively involved
with teaching youth classes and leading in worship.
The following is a portion of the statement Jason shared with the congregation last Sunday,
“After several weeks of prayer, reflection, and discussion with my family, we have decided that
the time has come for me to officially resign as the Youth Minister for the Monticello church of
Christ, effective immediately.” We appreciate so much Jason and Lydia in their efforts working
with our youth over the past years. Their enthusiasm and energy has been contagious and seen in
their teaching, playing and showing a Christ-like spirit.
We are truly blessed with the number of men and women giving of their time and energies
to help teach and demonstrate to our children faithfulness to the Lord. Our children are blessed to
have the opportunity to be a part of Bible classes Sunday morning, Sunday evening and
Wednesday evening. And we do have a large number of children participating.
We often hear that our children are the “church of tomorrow.” It is a correct statement, but if
we do not faithfully teach our children God’s Word ‘today” and demonstrate the life the Lord
wants us to live, then our children will be easy pickings for Satan. I am thankful for the many
adults involved in our children’s lives.
I also appeal to our parents to take advantage of these opportunities to have your children
blessed by theses godly adults. When we miss time for Bible class and other activities, then we
are missing opportunities for our children to be influenced by God’s people.
“Train up a child in the way he should go,
even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Pr. 22:6).
Thank you Jason, Lydia and all of our adults for your great work!
