The Value of One Lamb

We all struggle with self worth from time to time. It can stem from struggles at work, friends, family, or the folly of comparing ourselves to others. Whatever it’s origins, we can all relate to these feelings.

In the Bible our Heavenly Father repeatedly shows the value he places on each one of us.  He set us apart from the rest of creation and created us in His image (Genesis 1:27). Even when man turned to do evil continually, God saved Noah and his family to preserve a future for us (Genesis 8:1). Time after time God has shown great patience in spite of mankind’s sins, giving us opportunities to repent (2 Peter 3:9-15). He demonstrated His love for us by sending his son to die, valuing our salvation at a high price (1 Peter 1:19-20, Romans 5:8)

In Luke 15:4-7, Jesus tells this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” You are that one sheep!

Do not let the world deceive you. Listen to God, He will tell you: your value is great indeed!
