Equipped for Service

Much time and effort is spent in class, from the pulpit, and bulletin to encourage growing

in faith. A growth in faith is seen in action, not just in words. “...faith without works is dead”

(James 2:26). In an effort to help all of us grow in greater faith, we provide opportunities to put

our faith into action. Note just a few of the opportunities in the following:

WANTED: Men to help serve in leadership roles in worship. Jeff Newton is asking that

all men take time to get on the church website and log in to the member section to volunteer to

lead in worship. If you haven’t done so, will you not take the time to do so today? It will only

take a few moments of your time. This is something all of our men can do. (Our women need to

check this out as well for areas in which they can serve.)

WANTED: Men and their wives to take communion to our shut-ins. Currently we have

six couples serving in this capacity. With a congregation our size we could easily have two or

three times that many involved, making the work easier for all. I have included wives in the

service, because currently our shut-ins are ladies and they are hungry for a little visiting time

with other ladies. If you would like to help in this area, contact Paul or Cathy Mowrer in the

office. If you aren’t sure how it works, we will be glad to instruct. Taking our children in this

service would bring great joy to our shut-ins and set a fine example of faith in action for our

children.

WANTED: Men and women and children to help in an outdoor workday, Saturday, May

7 beginning at 9:00. We had a great turn out last time and Kerry Rice had a plan in place. I know

it will be no different this time. This is a great opportunity to work together to achieve a great

work and make our building outside look inviting to visitors. Further questions can be directed to

Kerry Rice.

WANTED: Our elders reached out to each of us asking for our feedback on a survey. It

is easy to let such requests slide, but it helps us all, if we will take just a few moments, fill out

the survey and turn it in at the back of the auditorium or to one of our elders.

Are you taking the opportunity to grow in faith in serving? If not, why not?
