Building Strong Families!
We begin our meeting this morning and we are so excited to have Paul and Susan O’Rear
with us. Paul is the Involvement and Education Minister for the Brown Street church of Christ in
Waxahachie, TX. He spent 25 years serving as Youth Minister in two Texas congregations prior
to transitioning into his current role about 8 years ago.
Paul’s wife Susan is a junior high school Math Teacher. They have been married 34 years
this week, and have raised two children. Ashley died of cancer at age 14 in 2001. Justin is 27,
married, and working as a high school Ag Teacher in west Texas.
Paul is the author of a book titled Living With a Broken Heart, published in 2014,
chronicling his family’s journey through grief, and offering hope for fellow grievers and
practical advice for anyone wanting to help someone who is grieving. This book is available for
purchase this week.
I pray that our hearts are as ready for the gospel message to be shared, as I know Paul is
ready to share it. I want to encourage again that each of us plan to be present each evening to
hear the message Paul has prepared. The following is the list of topics Paul will be preaching
during the week:

“Train Up a Child” Sunday AM Worship
“A Solid Foundation” Sunday PM Worship
“A Strong Commitment” Monday Evening (7:00)
“The Parenting Tightrope” Tuesday Evening (7:00)
Yes, it will be a full week, but I believe a week filled with a great message, great
fellowship and a reminder of how blessed we truly are as God’s children!
Even though we start the meeting this morning, let’s continue to be in prayer for Paul as
he preaches the gospel and for us as listeners, that we may take to heart the message of God’s
plan for the family. And, yes, there is still time to invite someone to the meeting who needs to
hear the gospel message!
