Confront

Do we have a responsibility to confront other people’s inappropriate behavior? What is
our duty to fellow Christians, friends, family, and people in the world. “And the Lord's servant
must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting
his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge
of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being
captured by him to do his will” (2 Timothy 2:24-26).
How important is helping people escape from the devil? Will we be held accountable like
the prophets of old? We have been given the Bible and have a duty to share it. “At the end of
seven days the word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the
people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from Me”. When I say to a
wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them
from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will
hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn
from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved
yourself” (Ezekiel 3:16-19).
We confront in love with the hope to restore. “If your brother sins against you, go and
tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother”
(Matthew 18:15). “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit
should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each
other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:1-3). Do we love
enough to confront sin and stand for what is right? Are you being a light in this dark world?
