Danger!

Our world has a problem and the Bible identifies that problem. “The Lord Jesus will be
revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who
do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the
penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His
power, when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day, and to be marveled at among all
who have believed—for our testimony to you was believed” (2 Thess. 1:7b-10). All that really
matters is where will we spend eternity?
The solution also comes to us through the Bible. The apostle Paul writes, “Now, brothers
and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on
which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I
preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as
of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried,
that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,…” (1 Cor. 15:1-5). Through
Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection we have hope. Through God’s grace we can be saved.
This salvation is available for everyone. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power
of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek”
(Rom.1:16). Now is the time of God’s grace and mercy when something can be done.
Once we have received this salvation, it is our responsibility to pass it on to others.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of
reconciliation:... We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His
appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God…” (2 Cor. 5:17-
21).
