Spring Retreat
As part of the Weevils for Christ Campus Ministry program, there are planned Fall and
Spring retreats for the students. Recently, students went on a weekend retreat to Blanchard
Springs near Mountain View. The weekend of April 29-31 was a time set aside by students to
focus on God and take time to get away from the stress of school. Students spent time in
devotionals, singing, and social activities to build relationships and learn more about the Bible.
Our students were able to go on a tour of Blanchard Springs caverns on Saturday, a first for our
students. We also spent time hiking and exploring the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. We
attended class and worshipped on Sunday with the School Avenue Church of Christ in Mountain
View.
Our devotional times during the weekend were spent discussing the book Teens in Two
Worlds. We discussed the difficulties of living a spiritual life yet living in the physical world.
We are to remain holy and be different from those in the world, but we must interact with the
world on a daily basis through school, work, and other daily activities. How we can balance our
need to stay pure and avoid the pitfalls and temptations the world has to offer. But to also follow
the command to go into the world and teach and minister to the lost.
The Saturday morning devotional focused on the difficulties Christians are facing at
school, especially when taking science classes. We discussed the information about the age and
development of the caves and compared that to what the Bible teaches about creation. Our young
people are being constantly challenged and having their faith questioned. Please keep our stu-
dents in your prayers. ~B Tolbert
