Finally!

Dream Sunday, October 14, 2007. It seems so long ago now, but it was decided at that time
to pursue the possibility of land purchase and begin building. The process was begun and now
the long-awaited day is finally here! It was announced last Sunday that our first worship service
in the new building will be Sunday morning, May 5. And even though all the transition from one
building to another will not be complete, we look forward to our first gathering and lifting our
voice together in praise to our Heavenly Father.
Work is ongoing and will continue to be until we have completely evacuated the older
building and made a complete transition into the new one. Patience will be of the utmost
importance as this process is completed over the next several weeks. I am excited when I see and
hear the extra work being done by so many. And yes, there is much to be done. If you are not
sure what you can do to help, take a moment to visit with one of the elders or deacons and I
know they will be glad to direct you into a good work.
We also ask your patience as we settle into the offices. Cathy and I are able to do the work
needed to be done, but still trying to finish our (my) organizing so as to run more smoothly.
Internet is up and running and phone service should be complete sometime next week. Yes, you
can get hold of us by calling our cell phones. If we don’t answer right away, be patient and we
will get to you as soon as we can.
One of the obvious concerns we have with the new building is how we can keep it “new”
and “long-lasting”. I have been asked to remind each of us of a few “practical” housekeeping tips
to help prepare us for our transition to the new building.
Wear and tear will happen, but to help keep the carpets as nice as possible we ask that each
of us clean up after ourselves, whether in the auditorium or in classrooms. Hopefully we are
training our children to be a part of this process. Be mindful that the podium is a little higher than
our current podium and we don’t want any of our children getting hurt. The driveway to the
building has been positioned so as to give plenty of visibility to oncoming traffic in both
directions. Please be careful when pulling out (or in).
Some of what we are asking from each of us could be labeled “common sense” and in using
a little “common sense” this building will serve us for many, many years to come. It is a
wonderful tool which will hopefully allow us to serve our Lord in a greater capacity as we try to
shine our lights in the Monticello (Southeast Arkansas) community. ~P. Mowrer
