I’m Loved By My Father!

Even as an adult I still crave the attention and love I receive from my Dad. As a Christian,
many of the verses that talk about our relationship with God include the idea of us being His
children. “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith” (Galatians 3:26).
Our relationship with God is described as a loving Father who cares about His children and
longs to be with them. “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The
Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you
received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The
Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we
are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order
that we may also share in His glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth
comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation
for the children of God to be revealed” (Romans 8:14-19).
God wants what is best and has given us guidance in how we are to live. He expects
obedience from His children. “Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope
on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at His coming. As obedient
children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as He
who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’
Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as
foreigners here in reverent fear” (1 Peter 1:13-17). I am truly loved by the holy and amazing
Creator of the universe, my heavenly Father. ~Brad Tolbert
