“SHARE” THE GOOD NEWS

As Jesus prepared to leave His apostles and ascend into heaven, He left them with this
command, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and
lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Mt. 28:19-20). The command is also to
you and to me (note the underlined portion of the verse).
As you read that last line, you may begin in your mind to excuse yourself from that
command because “I am not a speaker, preacher or teacher” or “I don’t know enough to be able
to teach someone about Christ.” The point of this article is not to debate the excuses, but rather to
show opportunities each of us has to “share” the good news of the saving blood of Christ.
I would begin with the financial support of the church. Perhaps it is not spoken of enough,
but this congregation has ben very supportive of mission efforts in the past and we currently
support several ongoing works: Truth for Today, In Search of the Lord’s Way, House to House,
and Ghana Radio. But these programs take money, so your weekly contribution helps in sharing
the good news around the world. Even when the church doors are temporarily closed, we
continue to help finance these programs. Be sure to mail in your contribution each week or run it
by the building so we can continue to support these good works.
But another way we may be overlooking is through our livestreaming efforts on Facebook.
We started posting Sunday morning worship and Wednesday evening Bible devotionals to help
keep us together through times calling for us to be separate. Many of you faithfully watch the
program and we appreciate it. But let’s do a little math. Let’s say we have about 50 members
watching the program each week (I know we have more, but math is not my strong point!). Well,
50 members watching is pretty good and we may even have a few “visitors” watch. Jeff has
encouraged us to “share” the Facebook posts and if each of the 50 members were to “share” the
posts, then those posts are now seen by an average of 50 people per member. Now our number
goes from 50+ up to 2500+ who may get to hear the good news each week and you have become
a part of that effort. I know, some of your Facebook “friends” will ignore or even delete the post,
but the point is, you have helped to “share” the good news. Be sure to click on “share.”
We cannot be responsible for how others respond to the good news preached, but we will be
held responsible by God as to whether or not we are obeying the great commission! ~P.M.
