MOWRERS TO RELOCATE
January 2007 was the beginning of a wonderful opportunity to serve as minister of the
Monticello church of Christ. Cathy and I have grown to love each of you as we have worked
together to serve the Lord here in this community. We have seen many of the children physically
born into this world, and more important the number of children born into the family of God.
Sadly, we have also been a part of saying good-bye to many dear ones. The fifteen years here
have been a great blessing in our lives.
We have recently received an invitation to minister with another group of Christians, which
would allow us to be closer to Cathy’s parents and closer to our children (and grandchildren!).
After much prayer and discussion, Cathy and I have decided to accept the invitation to serve as
the minister in Ackerman, MS beginning Sunday morning, October 3.
As we begin the transition process, we want you to know how very special each of you have
been to us over these past years. We have laughed together, cried together and worked together
serving our Lord. We pray that the Lord may continue to bless you as you continue to serve Him
in His earthly kingdom, preparing for our heavenly kingdom!
I share with you the words the apostle Paul penned as he began his letter to the church in
Philippi. “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you (from the day we drove the U-Haul
truck onto the driveway at the Gabbert St. house to the past year or two battling COVID), always
offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the
gospel from the first day until now. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a
good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus” (Phil. 1:3-6). It really is all about
God’s work and not our own (Eph. 2:10). ~P. Mowrer
