Be People of Light!

God is light. He is perfect and there is no darkness in Him. “This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.” (1 John 1:5)

Jesus is light. Jesus has shown us the way out of darkness. By following Jesus we may be freed from the darkness of this world and receive life. “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Through Jesus we have hope and can be freed from the darkness of this world and be part of the true kingdom of light. “always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation.” (Colossians 1:12-15)

We have a duty to live as people of light. “For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.” (Ephesians 5:8-9)

We must turn from the ways of the world that are sinful and dark. The sin of this world must be left behind if we are to be pleasing to God. “If we claim that we have fellowship with him but keep living in darkness, we are lying and not practicing the truth.” (1 John 1:6)

The world continues to live in darkness and needs the message of light, the Gospel that the bible proclaims to all who will listen. They must change before it is to late. Before God’s judgment comes upon them. “And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.” (John 3:19-20)
